Ecuador Tours by Train
One of the most fascinating adventures you can have in Ecuador takes place aboard the legendary railway. It is not merely a means of transportation from one side of a mountain to the other; on this very special adventure you'll see the multicolored landscapes of the mountains and the coast. You will have to catch your breath upon first seeing the famous "Nariz del Diablo" and its dramatic mountain tunnels.
Riobamba-Alausí-Guayaquil-Salinas - 4 days / 3 nights
All tours depend upon working rail service. Due to El Niño, some routes have been damaged, but are under repair and may be working at any given time. If the rails are not working, the trips can be reorganized using private transportation.
Day 1: Travel along the Avenue of the Volcanoes. Weather providing, we will be able to observe the highest mountain in Ecuador, Chimborazo (6310m). In the afternoon we will visit the museum "Las Conceptas," in the village of Riobamba. Lodging.
Day 2: Early morning departure. Travel by private car on the way to Guayaquil.

Day 3: Travel to Salinas. In the afternoon we will visit the "Chocolatera" located in extremely steep mountains. Return to the hotel in Salinas.
Day 4: Return to Quito or to Guayaquil.
Otavalo-Ibarra-San Lorenzo-Tonsupa - 6 days / 5 nights

Day 1: Arrival in the province of Imbabura. Visit the Indigenous market of Otavalo. We will have an afternoon visit to Cotacachi, a village well known for the manufacturing of leather products. The trip will continue on to the city of Ibarra. Lodging.
Day 2: Very early departure from the hotel to the station. Travel by train to San Lorenzo in the Esmeraldas province. You will be able to admire the wonderfully changing landscapes between the Sierra and the Coast. Refreshments will be provided. Small excursion in Lita, a small village located at the borders of the three border provinces: Carchi, Imbabura, and Esmeraldas. In the afternoon, we arrive in San Lorenzo and will go to the hotel where we will eat a meal and rest.
Day 3: Trip by boat to the archipelago of Pianguapi. We will visit with the people of San Lorenzo. Depending on the number on participants, we may be able to visit the Folkloric Show, with the famous group "Marimba Esmeraldena." Lodging.
Day 4: Travel by boat southwest. We will visit a fishing community called Limones (Valdez). Travel to Esmeraldas and arrive at the Tonsupa Beach. Lodging.
Day 5: Morning free and then we will eat lunch. In the afternoon you can walk along the beautiful beaches of Muisne and take a refreshing swim. Lodging. Day 6: Return to Quito by plane or car.
| Quito - National Park Cotopaxi, Boliche 1 day
Early in the morning we'll travel to the station of the train Chimbacalle in Quito. We'll take the train at 8:00am to the Boliche station in Cotopaxi National Park. During the trip we'll travel through the fabulous landscapes of the Andean Sierra. At around 11:00 am we arrive in Boliche. The train returns to Quito at 5:30 pm. Animals such as llama, rabbits, deer, a wide variety of birds, plus many different classes of pines, fungi, etc. live in Cotopaxi National Park. If the sky is clear you will be able to admire the powerful Cotopaxi Volcano (5897m above sea level).

Volcano Pichincha
Travel by car up to the hill of antennas on the Pichincha Volcano, where we can enjoy a tremendous view of Quito. From this point we descend on bicycle all the way back down into Quito. Quito/Pichinca/ Nono/Calacalí This trip is for experienced athletes. Depart by jeep up the steep old route behind the Pichincha Volcano to the village of Nono. We begin pedaling from the highest point of the route (3200m) as we descend through an incredible landscape of ridges and mountains (3 hours). After a picnic lunch, we will descend through the surroundings of Calacalí (approximately 3 hours) where our jeep will be waiting to bring us back to Quito.
