During your visit to the Malecón District, you must not miss the opportunity to visit La Rotonda, a sculpture marking the unforgettable encounter took place between Simón Bolívar and the Mariscal San Martín.
These revolutionaries were fighting for the freedom from the yoke of the Spanish and the statue is a commemoration of their fight. Another place to visit is the colonial neighborhood "Las Peñas". From November through May the city has a very warm and rainy climate, and between June and October the climate is cooler and less wet, but regardless the temperatures are pleasant for year round visitation.
Guayaquil, Playas and Salinas - 5 days / 4 nights
Day 1: Flight to Guayaquil. First we will visit the Port and then we will go to Las Peñas, a colonial neighborhood, and the historical center. In the afternoon, we will travel to Salinas followed with dinner and back to the Hotel.
Day 2: Morning free. Trip to "La Chocolatera," a fantastic steep hill. Dinner and lodging.
Day 3: Trek to the long beaches of the north. Visit the fishing villages of San Pablo, San Pedro, Manglaralto, and Montañita. We recommend eating lunch in a local restaurant that serves delicious seafood. Return to Salinas.
Day 4: Trip southward, visiting some more fishing villages: Ancón, Chanduy and Playas. Return to Salinas. Housing. Dinner.
Day 5: Return to Guayaquil. Flight to Quito.
Ecuador Beaches and Resorts
The beautiful and varied landscapes of Ecuador will captivate you. You will find great contrasts between the gentle topography of the Ecuadorian coast and the rugged Sierra. The coastal landscape is extended along 777 km of the Pacific Ocean, with a fertile region extending anywhere from 30 km to 200km inland. This agriculture-rich region is bordered by a great number of rivers whose headwaters lie in the Andes. This remarkable landscape is full of farms growing coffee, cocoa, sugar, bananas, rice, tagua, rubber, etc. This climate is ideal for the cultivation of a huge variety of plants, from the desert landscape to the wet forest. The reason this area is so fertile is that it lies between the hot wet jungle area and the warm and drier mountain slopes, and also because of the cold Humboldt current (which comes from as far south as Cabo Pasado, northward to the Galápagos Islands). This was temporarily altered last December, when the warm southern current of El Niño opposed the Humboldt, causing unseasonable heat and heavy rains that damaged areas of the coast. Typically the rainy season along the coast is from January until May and the dry season is from June until December.
The Esmeralda's Beaches - 4 days / 3 nights
Day 1: The road of Alluriqun brings us to Esmeraldas, a province of the Coast with many contrasts. Along the way we'll visit the village of Santo Domingo de los Colorados and then continue to Esmeraldas. We will stay in the ArcoIris Hostal or a similar place.
Day 2: Morning free and then in the afternoon we will visit the beaches of the north. Dinner and rest.
Day 3: Trip to Muisne. Free afternoon. Dinner and rest.
Day 4: Morning free and then we will return to Quito in the afternoon by plane or car. | Manabi's beaches - 5 days / 4 nights
Day 1: Trip to the Province of Manabi. Along the way we'll visit the village of Santo Domingo de los Colorados. Then onward to Bahía de Caráquez. Lodging in hotel.
Day 2: Morning free. Trip in Gabarra to San Vicente, a picturesque little fishing village. Resume travel toward the fabulous and peaceful Canoas beach. Return to Bahía de Caráquez, dinner and rest.
Day 3: Trip to the beaches of San Jacinto and San Clemente. In the afternoon we will visit the city of Portoviejo, the capital of the Manabi Province, near to the Manta port. Lodging.
Day 4: Travel to the beach of Crucita. Along the way we'll visit the village of Montecristi a well-known manufacturing center of "Paja Toquilla" items- the origin of the famous "Panama hats." Return to the Port of Manta. Lodging.
Day 5: Transfer from the hotel to the airport. Return to Quito aboard TAME airlines or by private transportation.
National Park of Machalilla - 5 days / 4 nights
The National Park of Machalilla is a superb example of Ecuadorian coastal forest, dry and ruggedly beautiful. In 1979 Machililla was declared a protected area. It is located in the Cantón Jipijapa, in the province of Manabí.
The National Park has a total area of 55.095 hectares, including the Islas de la Plata and Salango, as well as other beaches, bays, and slopes.
Day 1: Travel from Quito to Manta. We'll venture on to the village of Montecristi. Then we will visit the peaceful fishing pueblo of Puerto Cayo (30 to 40 minutes). Along the way we'll observe the typical dry forest, and with clear weather we may be able to see into the interior, with its the bleary wet forest. We will eat lunch and have free time to swim, walk, and relax. Lodging.
Day 2: Breakfast. Travel along the edges of the typical dry forest toward Agua Blanca. This small village of around of 500 inhabitants is found in the center of the Machalilla National Park, five km out of Jipijapa / Puerto Lopez. Visit to the Samuel Martín Archaeological Museum in Agua Blanca. Visit to the Pre-Columbian ruins of the culture Mantena. Here you have the opportunity to swim in the refreshing and healing sulphurous waters of the river. Return to the hotel. Dinner and lodging.
Day 3: Breakfast. Trek to San Sebastián, during which you'll observe firsthand the transition from wet to dry forest. Many wonderful views and points of interest are found along the road. In the afternoon we return to the hotel in Agua Blanca. Dinner and lodging.
Day 4: Early in the morning we travel to Puerto López. We continue on a boat toward the Isla de la Plata. Dolphins and humpback whales are often spotted between June and August. We arrive at the Bahía Drake. Here we will begin an unforgettable trek along the island's paths, observing many of the same animals that are found in the Galapagos Islands blue footed, red footed, and masked boobies, frigates, pelicans, iguanas, and sea lions. We will have time to swim and then eat a picnic lunch. Return to the hotel in Puerto López. Dinner and lodging.
Day 5: Breakfast. Visit to the Salango archaeological museum. This museum teaches us the interesting history of the coastal archaeology. Travel to Guayaquil passing through the town of La Libertad. Lunch and refreshments. In the afternoon we will arrive in Guayaquil or return to Quito.
